The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) is a nonprofit organization of physicians in the U.S, composed primarily of sports medicine physicians who have fellowship training and added qualifications in non-surgical sports medicine. Founded in 1991, its mission is to advance the discipline of sports medicine through education, research, advocacy, and excellence in patient care. AMSSM provides forums and programs for professional development: publishing position statements; facilitating collaborative research; offering mentoring; and hosting educational events. Members serve in roles ranging from caring for youth athletes to working with collegiate, professional, Olympic, and Paralympic teams and performing artists.

The Bridge Dance Project (BDP) is a grassroots network supporting the whole-person health and wellness of competition and commercial dancers, by providing current dance medicine and science information. The mission of IADMS is to enhance the health, well-‐being, training, and performance of dancers by cultivating educational, medical, and scientific excellence. An international group of dance medicine practitioners, dance educators, dance scientists, and dancers formed IADMS in 1990. Membership is drawn equally from the medical, health and dance professions, and has grown from an initial 48 members in 1991 to over 1,400 members from 48 countries.
