The mission of IADMS is to enhance the health, well-‐being, training, and performance of dancers by cultivating educational, medical, and scientific excellence. An international group of dance medicine practitioners, dance educators, dance scientists, and dancers formed IADMS in 1990. Membership is drawn equally from the medical, health and dance professions, and has grown from an initial 48 members in 1991 to over 1,400 members from 48 countries. The AATA coalition accounts for over 200,000 members dedicated to performing arts wellness.

Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) is committed to advancing the value of music making and music study to society and supporting the professionalism of music teachers. As part of that commitment, MTNA provides resources for its members and the public to assist them in teaching, learning and playing music in a healthy manner. MTNA has a published Health in Music Teaching position statement that it encourages its members to incorporate into their teaching practices. In addition, MTNA offers an annual pre-conference Wellness Track during its National Conference, as well as a regular column in its peer-reviewed journal, American Music Teacher. The association’s newest initiative is Health, Wellness, and Wholeness in the Music Studio, a valuable resource for studio teachers to ensure their students are engaging in healthy performance and practice techniques.
